HOME ROOMS
Each home room will have Roosevelt show choir member hosts to ensure you are taken care of during your stay. They will keep an eye on your schedule and time… escort you to your designated areas… and let us know of anything you might need during the day. Please instruct your students to care for the space that is borrowed from our Roosevelt teachers/classrooms. We like to assure them that their room will be in great shape upon their return. There will also be Roosevelt Choir Adult Volunteers/Hall Monitors available to help in any way for your support.
In an effort to keep rooms clean and ensure administrative support for our event in the future, we can NOT ALLOW FOOD OR DRINK other than water in the Home Rooms or at the competition. Thank you for understanding. Our volunteers have been asked to enforce this policy. If they ask you to remove outside food from the premises, please do not be angry with them.
*You may wish to bring your own surge protection power strips to make the most of the limited outlets in the homerooms! Schools are old. Outlets are few and can blow.

CONTEST RULES & LOGISTICS
- To be considered for the “Best Combo” Award, instrumentalists must be composed entirely of students from the participating school, and may have one adult if that adult is the keyboard player.
- Choirs are free to present any type of performance they wish, adhering to the 25 minute time allotment. That means 25 minutes TOTAL to set up, perform the show, and be cleared from the stage. There is no minimum or maximum number of songs a group must perform. Music need not be provided for the judges.
- No recorded back-up music is allowed, except under special circumstances with prior approval from competition hosting directors.
- All equipment and performers must move on from stage left. No group will be permitted to move their equipment onto the auditorium stage until the previous performing group has completely cleared the backstage area.
- In order to avoid congestion following your performance, all equipment, including that which is carried by individual performers (e.g. hats, canes, or other props), must exit stage right as directed by our stage crew and to your designated equipment holding area. Performers must exit stage right.
- Dry ice fog machines will be permitted; however, chemical fog, pyrotechnics, smoke, and other open flames are forbidden. Please check in advance with the Competition Chairs or Robyn Starks Holcomb if you are uncertain about any special effects you plan to use.
- Your performance sequence will be:
- MIDDLE SCHOOLS
- Warm-up in Choir Room
- Performance in Auditorium
- Critique in the Little Theatre
- HIGH SCHOOLS:
- Warm-up in Auditorium

- HOME ROOM USE: There will be no outside food and drink allowed into the school – please leave personal food brought along for the trip on the bus. No food or drink will be allowed in home rooms other than water… students, directors, chaperones should consume food in designated eating areas. Hosts have been charged with enforcing this policy for the cleanliness and respect for the Roosevelt teachers who so kindly allow their rooms to be used. Please do not put our students in a “sticky” situation of having to enforce this rule. Any blatant disregard for this request could result in disqualification or other serious consequences. Thank you for helping us keep our home rooms clean, safe and respectful!
FINALS
FOR THE SIX TOP POINT EARNERS FROM THE SATURDAY DAYTIME COMPETITION - from ANY division
- The finals performance order will be determined by daytime placements. The team with the highest daytime score will perform last, followed by second, etc. In the event that one school has more than one team in finals, they will then be placed far enough apart to make shared instrumentals, etc. able to function at their best.
- By 6:00 p.m. the returning show choirs are to have their equipment reorganized in their designated equipment space.
- Each choir will have 30 minutes to set-up, perform, and remove their special equipment.
- After all groups have performed, the final placements will be determined.
- Following the last finals performance, the awards ceremony will take place in the gym.
